Too often life becomes unbalanced and we stop enjoying our daily experiences at work and at home. We have less time and energy for ourselves and for our partners, children, family and friends.  Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a well researched psychological therapy and the treatment of choice for many problems including depression, stress, burnout, anxiety, low self esteem and worry. A short term therapy, CBT teaches you how to become your own therapist so you can use these skills in the future if any problems arise. See here for further information.

Who comes for CBT?

My clients are people like you! People who are trying to make the best of their life but have discovered that circumstances are preventing them from having a more balanced life and better sense of self.

Some people seek professional help because they have been told that they are struggling “You are depressed” or “Your stress levels are too high”. On the other hand, you may just have been feeling not quite right, low in energy or lacking in an ability to cope with daily life. You might know something is wrong, that life isn’t as good as it could be, but you can’t pinpoint it. If this is the case then CBT could be helpful in identifying the problem and helping you to get back on track and to a state of balance.

What is CBT and how can it help me?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is the psychological treatment of choice for many mental health problems. The National Health Service (UK) National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends CBT as the best treatment for anxiety and depression. You can read their guidelines here.

Few therapies have generated as much interest over the last two decades as cognitive behaviour therapy. It is based on the fact that thinking plays an important role in the development of emotional and behavioural problems. The way we think also plays an important role in keeping the problems going! CBT therapy aims to reduce distress by changing unhelpful beliefs and unhelpful behaviours which provides new ways to make sense of life. If you do what you always do, you get what you always get, and CBT helps to create new patterns of thinking and behaviour.
